Visectomy (vescetomy) is a permanent male sterilization (not intended for reversal) through vasectamy. The correcponding female operation is called a tubal litigation (ligation) which is not the same as a histerectomy.

Traditional vasectomy is performed by a surgeon cutting open the scrotum in order to sever the vas deferens tube, normally by removing a piece and the cauterize. This procedure has some risk of infections in the vas deferens with following pain, although this is not the norm. There is also a newer method, approved in the US and some other countries - the Vasclip, which is completely reversible and has a lesser risk of developing infections. The Vasclip operation is yet to be approved in most countries outside of the US.
Through a vasectomy (a surgical operation), the male patient will become sterile on a permanent basis. After a vasectamy (visectomy) operation, he can not make a woman pregnant anymore. This operation is also called a vesectomy. The corresponding female version of sterilization is called a tubal litigation (tuba ligation). These operations, both the male and the female sterilization, are very effective as birth control instruments but are intended to be permanent and so are not easy to reverse. The deciscion to have a vasectomy should therefore be arrived at first after much thought. Vasectomy reversal is possible, but it is not easy. Only a fraction of one percent of the couples treated will get pregnant within a year so the operation is very successful. You need to consider carefully whether sterility is what you really want, as reversing a vasectomy (visectomy) is not a straightforward operation. Vasectomies can sometimes be accompanied by complications such as bleeding and some infections. These complications are not very common though.
It is possible that a vasectamy could fail, however this is very rare as it is considered a simple and safe operation. Less than one percent of all vasectomies (visectomies) will fail. Failure could happen if there is a mistake in blocking up the tubes during the surgery or the tube endings heal and let sperm travel through atain. Cost of visectomy (vascetomy) should include everything - counceling, the doctors fees, any clinic fees, the medications you will need and any follow-ups required later. Vasectemy cost will of course vary between different doctors and clinics. They should be able to tell you a total cost for the vesectomy operation in advance and it is well advised to get quotations from several clinics in order to find the best vasectomy cost.
Visectomy (vascetomy) or male sterilization. Vasectomies are safe and with few failures. A vasectamy (vesectamy) is difficult to reverse. Vasectomy reversal has a high failure rate. Tubal litigation and histerectomy (hysterectomy) are female sterilizations.
